The Official TruthHurts Statement on the Assassination Attempt
I hereby and unconditionally condemn all acts of political violence. Many may recall I was the lone voice condemning the killing of Osama Bin Laden as I believed and still believe bringing him to a court of law for his crimes would have been more ethical and better for society-to have a reckoning and communal adjudication of his crimes on our nation.
I believe no human being is beyond redemption and a civilized society will treat even it's criminals with humanity. That does not equate with just letting violent criminals walk free, but justice should be about protecting society (separating the criminal from society) and rehabilitation. That even applies to -------.
I believe ------- should pay for his crimes in a court of law, be found guilty and sentenced. Promptly. I believe -------'s crimes warrant long term prison sentences.
I believe assassinating ------- would be against justice, contrary to morality and dangerous to our nation.
All that being said, as Zed has stated I would not shed a tear for his death should it come. Accepting the violence sure to spread as a response to his death, removing him from the public sphere would be a cathartic and healing event. He is singularly responsible for the destruction of the nation that I love. His lies, violence and simple meanness are tearing this country apart, to say nothing of the damage the policies and SC picks he mad have had and will continue to have on our country for decades to come.
He has not demonstrated himself worthy of pity. He is sowing what he reaps. I sincerely wish for him to do a deep self-reflection and change. the one slightly useful thing out of a catholic upbringing is the sense of guilty which can cause one to reflect on one's actions and endeavor to change. Unfortunately, ------- has never demonstrated a willingness to do this.
